Join us at a Give It A Try: Pottery Painting Happy Hour once a month to decorate your bisqueware pottery yourself, connect with other creatives and learn a new technique to take with you on your pottery journey!

This monthly class is 90 minutes - designed for those that have taken a Give It A Try Class with Megan Tyler and have finished bisquware work that you would like to decorate/paint detailing using underglazes.

What is Underglaze?
Unlike traditional glazes, which create a shiny finish when fired, underglazes are typically matte until they are covered with a clear glaze that gives them a glass-like finish; underglaze being first applied followed by a clear glaze placed over top help to seal the piece and make it non porous.

Underglaze is specifically formulated to withstand the heat of firing without losing its vibrancy or ruining details which makes it a GREAT choice for more detailed painting/precise decorating giving the surface more visual depth and character for unique personalization!

How it will work:
1) Instructions on how to utilize underglazes including tips/tricks for techniques to explore will be provided within the first hour of class time; All materials will be provided (underglazes, clear glaze coat to finish, paint brushes, wax resist)
2) Session is for underglazing with Give It A Try pieces only (no outside work); a clear top coat will be added before kiln firing to seal your piece; final glaze firing included
3) Studio space is limited → Sign Up in advance!
4) Firing is done through The Bunkhouse Studios; due to it being a community studio, firing times may vary; you will be notified when ready to pock up, please allow 2-4 wks.
