Ground Yourself - Defend Yourself

We invite the women+ of our community to join us at Free Spirit for a free 2 HR Self Defense Workshop led by Katy McLaughlin!

(Donations are welcome upon arrival as this will be a free offering we will continue to host as long as we are able, contributions of any size when you are able will help in sustaining our resources to do so.)

This self-defense workshop gives an overview of both psychological and physical self-defense, geared toward women+ with no previous martial arts experience. Participants will be learning about situational awareness, confidence and grounding in times of stress, and training muscle memory to react to common attacks such as punches and grabs.

IMPORTANT NOTES TO BE AWARE OF:

We practice within safety guidelines but this is still a highly physical activity with a partner; all participants will be asked to sign a waiver.

Participants with trauma triggers or physical limitations are encouraged to reach out at the beginning of class to alert the instructor. We can adjust for almost any situation and encourage people to stretch themselves without re-injury (literally and metaphorically).
